Cell Phone/Electronic Device Policy
Prairie View Middle School - Cell Phone/Electronic Device Expectations
PVMS strives to create a safe environment that is academic focused. PVMS will be implementing “No Cell from Bell to Bell" expectations for all grade levels (5-8). Students are not permitted to use cell phones or other personal electronic communication devices (smartwatches, airpods, bluetooth headphones, etc) during the school hours. In accordance with district policies, students are strictly prohibited from using personal electronic devices for any activity that violates school rules or law.
Expectations:
- “No Cell From Bell to Bell” Students will leave their cell phones/electronic devices in their lockers or at home during the school day (8:10am - 2:55pm), this will include lunch periods and passing times.
Process for Infractions:
Infraction #1:
- Staff member will confiscate electronic device and bring it to the office.
- Student will call home informing parents/guardians of the infraction and informing them of the personal electronic device expectations.
- Student can pick up the electronic device at the end of the school day from the office or other designated staff member.
Infraction #2:
- Staff member will confiscate electronic device and bring it to the office.
- Student will call parents/guardians informing them they will need to pick up the device at their convenience.
Infraction #3 and beyond:
- Staff member will confiscate electronic device and bring it to the office.
- Student will call parents/guardians informing them they will need to pick up the device at their convenience.
- Violation of these expectations may result in disciplinary consequences in line with the district’s discipline policy.
